Linking to Content from your Wikispaces Site

Linking to Uploaded Videos:
I'm a fan of the Link button. Using the File button embeds items, whereas the Link button gives additional flexibility. You will use both the Link button and File button throughout your site, but here are some things to consider.
  1. If you want to include several videos on a page, the page will load faster if it doesn't have to load all of the videos when the page opens. Uploading a file to Wikispaces, then linking to the file allows you to make your page load faster.
  2. If you want to include several videos on a page, the page will physically be "longer." It's better if the end user doesn't have to scroll too much.
  3. Linking to an uploaded video or file allows you to view the video in a new window without the distractions of everything else on the page.
  4. Linking to an uploaded video or file allows you to control the text that is used to prompt the user. You can use text that is more than just the video name, but rather "click here to learn more about..."
  5. Uploading and linking to a video rather than linking to the video on another site allows you to control the experience for the end user. The kids don't have to go to another site where you don't have control of the rest of the content.
  6. Uploading a quality video from Youtube to your site allows kids to benefit from that video without going to Youtube. This allows kids to get to that video at school.
  7. Uploading and linking to a video rather than linking to the video on another site allows you to ensure the video is available. What would happen if your favorite video was taken off of the site where you've always visited it?
